Let the science begin!

Welcome to Socks & Thongs Science! My name is Lofty and I will be your scientist for this evening. If you would kindly spare a minute of your time, I’d like to explain what this blog is about.

I have a bit of a thing for science. Not in a weird way or anything, just in a sciencey sort of way. I’d like to share some of this love with the wider population so that we can all bask in science’s warm, glowing warming glow. And I thought the easiest way for me to start doing this in a way that doesn’t involve me having to go outdoors was to start a blog.

If Einstein were around today, he would probably read this blog. Source:Wikimedia

Unlike most scientists, I don’t really have any specialist area which I know tonnes about. Instead I prefer to take in a bit of everything and I see myself as more of a generalist. So this blog won’t have any particular area of focus. I’ll post a couple of times a week about whatever grabs my attention in the news or what I stumble across in life and on the internet, hopefully highlighting and explaining some of the awesomeness that is science. Or at least that’s the plan at the moment. I’m sure it will take on a life of its own and evolve into something interesting.

If I get anything wrong or you take umbrage at anything else I write, feel free to let me know in the comments and I will happily correct any mistakes. After all, science is about advancing upon what we already know (or think we know) and constantly learning more about all that is around us.

In the meantime, please enjoy my rambling. Hopefully you are both educated and entertained.

Lots of scientifically tested love,

Lofty
